KEITH CHEEK
Keith Cheek is a multi-instrumentalist based out of Portland, OR. After studying under Richard Inouye, the former music director at Clark College, he left there with two awards from the University of Colorado Collegiate Jazz Festival. Upon exiting secondary-education, Keith joined the seven-piece band Adebisi, who is known to "turn personal revelations into the songs of an R&B hive mind," according to Lauren Kershner of Willamette Weekly. In recent months, their project had the privilege to perform at PDX Jazz Festival and tour along the west-coast, promoting their 2019 EP Liberation. Keith also plays in Jay Si Proof, a mixture of contemporary funk and groove music resembling the minds of Anderson .Paak and J Dilla. As well as being established in side work, Keith has been rising to his potential as a band leader. Fronting his soul jazz project "The Cheektet" brings the sounds of hard hitting groove music back to life while drawing from classic soul music from legends like Stanley Turrentine and Grover Washington Jr.
